As women we are often so critical of our bodies. When you are a plus size woman, that critique is often multiplied. We see pictures and all we can focus on is the double chin, our hips, or how our tummy shows. Preparing for family photos often brings upon stress and anxiety about how pictures are going to turn out because of our ill conceived fears.

There are several ways to prepare for family photos, and they focus around YOU!!

1.) Stop. Just stop. See the other people in that photo? They don’t see what you see. They see mom. Wife. Friend. Caretaker. Lover. To them, they see the woman who does all she can to make this life what it is. They love her. Every inch, bump and roll. You should love her as well. She gives so much of herself for those in the picture. She deserves to see herself through their eyes.

2.) Plan family outfits around your outfit. I know it is hard to think of yourself first, but you can do this!

Find a color that compliments you. Don’t wear colors that make you look pale or wash you out. Once you have the color that suits you best, you can then fuss over what everyone else is wearing!
Pick a style that conceals your problem areas, while accentuating what you consider your best assets. It took me years to realize that if I pull my skirts up to my NATURAL waist, it shows off that smaller side of me, while hiding the apron belly that makes me insecure. Wrap dresses often do wonders to pull attention away from tummies.

Remember to style, but not over style your outfit, and don't add accessories that make problem areas stand out.
Get the right size. It does nothing for you if you are wearing something that doesn’t fit. You do not need to get the bigger size, it is just going to make you look bigger. Same with smaller size, it's just going to point out every lump area you have.
Make sure everyone is in the same groove. You don’t want to be in jeans if others are in dress pants! Wearing the right style of jeans can produce awesome photos. They offer an everyday vibe that mimics the ordinary day, but dressing everyone up gives you an excuse to get all dolled up for date night afterwards!

3.) Talk with your photographer about your insecurities beforehand. There are posing tips and techniques they can use to help you be your absolute best. A slight turn of the hips or placement of hands can help make those unwanted looks disappear. They will then be aware of your feelings, and can work to take shots at the best angles for you. Remember, you are partners in this memory making.

I know I am always the one taking the photos. Sneaking a candid shot of my loved ones laughing or doing something silly. I used to hide when the camera came out because too often the person in the picture wasn't the person I saw when I looked into the mirror. I am getting older. Time is a thief. Before you know it the babies in those pictures will be grown. They will then be sitting with their children sharing these memories. Let those pictures show the life inside of you, and the joy and laughter that the day brings.

Do you only carry plus size?

Yes, in store we only carry sizes 14 and up. Some things run small, others big.. So you never know until you try it onl We feel that there are plenty of store for standard sizing, and we want to offer a place where size 20 is normal, not special. We do have some items on our Shopify page that run in the standard and plus sizes.

What all styles do you carry?

We have business casual, everyday, retro, boho and formal. We also have the best fitting bralette on the market.

Formal? And as sequins, lace and tulle?

Yes! Actually in formal we can get sizes 2-40. In store we have sizes 12 and up to try on. We can do wedding, bridesmaids, prom, quinceanera, pageant, cruise.. Anything you need sparkle for!!

What accessories do you have?

We have stretchy plus size belts. Earrings, Shapewear. Tights. Purses, both fun and conceal carry. As well as hats, cups, soaps and socks.
