Mini sessions are really my jam! I love them for clients who know it's a selling point to their kids & family. They are great for clients who just want a few images or who like to capture their kids and family multiple times throughout the year.
Although mini photography sessions include a small amount of photos I can normally get 25+ images in such a short period of time. My goal during mini sessions are not multiple location (we really stick to one spot!) or a variety of poses. My goal is to give my clients several options of each pose/combination so they can pick their favorites.
The way I do that is by doing the following:
- Start the session right away. Kids get bored and start to lose interest really quick.
- Start with the family photos because that is usually the main photos families want, then I go to siblings together and then individuals. I always end with Mom & Dad (if applicable). If kid are cooperating and time allows I then do Mom with kids then Dad with kids.
- Remind the kids of the bribe (sometimes parents have them but I also have a little treasure chest I tell them about!)
- I plan the poses for each family ahead of time. I like to get ages of kids when you sign up for your session so I know, are kids standing, can they sit in your lap, etc.
- I don't waste time! Mini sessions are quick so I am constantly posing & taking photos so we can get them done quickly.
The biggest way I get so many photos in such a short time is because I do these ALL the time and I have been doing mini sessions for years. These years of experience has helped me create mini session photos that my clients love and will cherish forever.
Have you ever had a mini session with me? If not, I would love for you to see what upcoming mini sessions I am hosting or you can sign up here for a mini session anytime! I'd love to show you what mini sessions are all about.
